Make a pocket shrine inspired by folk art!

Deeply rooted in folklore, a pocket shrine serves as a way to carry memories, affirmations or symbols with you. In this workshop we’ll create shrines from reclaimed materials then fill with meaningful words and imagery and even objects and charms.

No experience necessary. All materials provided but feel free to bring your own photos, images or other ephemera if you have a theme you’d like to work with.

About your host Gwendolyn Jones

Gwendolyn Jones is an artist and printmaker based in rural Hampshire. After studying illustration and printmaking at Central Saint Martins, Gwen spent a couple of decades designing children’s magazines for clients including BBC and Disney.

She now makes prints, collages, books and other handcrafted objects at home, using DIY print methods, and shares these techniques in fun, informal workshops for all levels. A large focus of her work is using scrap paper and reclaimed materials to create something new and surprising. Experimentation, discovery and play are at the centre of her practice.
