A Forage for Christmas

Join us at New House Farm for a festive day of foraging, creativity and seasonal celebration, set within the beautiful Monmouthshire landscape on the Old Lands Estate.

We’ll begin with an introduction to New House Farm from Sarah. Farming with a low-input approach, the farm is a patchwork of pasture, thick hedgerows and woodland, offering a wonderful variety of natural materials throughout the seasons.

Together, we'll head out into the fields to explore the farm and forage for seasonal foliage, greenery and other natural materials to bring back for our Christmas decoration making workshop inside the barn.

Back in the barn, Ffion from The Fallows, a flower grower based at Ty Mawr and fellow Old Lands Estate neighbour, will guide you through creating your own festive decorations using the materials we've gathered. Ffion will help you turn nature's materials into something special to take home.

There will be hot drinks, mulled wine and festive cheese boards to enjoy in the barn - the perfect accompaniment to an afternoon of festive making and good company.

Order of the day:

• An introduction to New House Farm and its low-input farming approach.
• A guided walk through the farm's fields, hedgerows and woodland.
• Seasonal foraging for natural Christmas decoration materials.
• A hands-on festive decoration-making workshop led by Ffion from The Fallows.
• Hot drinks, mulled wine and festive cheese boards in our barn.

A few things to know before you come:

This event is suitable for all, and no previous crafting or foraging experience is needed. However, please remember that New House Farm is a working farm, and part of the event will involve walking through fields on uneven ground.

We recommend wearing sturdy walking boots or wellies, warm layers, a waterproof coat and gloves. Please come dressed for the outdoors, whatever the weather!

We look forward to welcoming you to the farm for a little festive creativity, a chance to connect with the landscape and a celebration of the natural materials on our doorstep.
