October News Club with Decca Muldowney: Kneecap, Palestine and Irish cultural resistance

Join New Internationalist for our October News Club – the latest of our monthly online meet-ups where we delve deeper into the world’s most pressing stories with our contributors, editors and fellow readers.

This month, co-editor Decca Muldowney, who recently joined the NI team, will talk about her recent Long Read on the British government’s weaponisation of terror legislation against Irish rap group Kneecap.

In conversation with our editorial assistant Paula Lacey, Decca will explore how Kneecap’s outspoken politics fit within a broader history of Irish-Palestinian solidarity, and how the government’s response continues decades of repression of Irish language, activism and cultural resistance.

Decca Muldowney joins the New Internationalist editorial team from Oakland, California. She is an editor and reporter. Previously she was a reporter-researcher at The Daily Beast, an investigative researcher at Reveal, From The Center For Investigative Reporting, and research fellow at ProPublica. Prior to that she studied and taught Palestinian literature at the University of Cambridge.
