The New Mexico Prickly Pear Festival is BACK for our 7th year! Returning to the gorgeous grounds of the Gutierrez Hubbell House for another year of food, music, arts and crafts and a lot more celebrating everything prickly pear.

After a successful addition an evening event to our festival last year, we’ll be bringing festival goers two full days and one prickly night packed with all kinds of activities Friday & Sat Sept 26th & 27th. On Friday September 26th join us from 2pm – 7 pm and check out our full vendor market with over 60 vendors selling all kinds of prickly pear eats, drinks, arts, crafts, and other local products. Folks can also get creative and paint their own prickly pear masterpiece with a paint party with Susan Gomez Arts and a natural dye workshop from Kalyn Finnell showing folks how to make the gorgeous carmine red dye with the prickly pear cochineal bug. In the evening attendees can learn how to whip up some classy prickly pear cocktails and NA mixed drinks with Jessica O’Brien owner of Teddy Roe’s bar and enjoy the sounds of blues duo Sage Lacapa and Kirin Vicenti, followed by the Jacob Shije Trio.

Then on Saturday from 10am-4pm, in addition to another full day of vendors selling all kinds of prickly pear goods, festival goers can learn how to cook up their own prickly pear dishes at home with cooking demos from Three Sisters Kitchen, Lilia Avila of Fiesta on the Go, and James Beard Award winning chef Lois Ellen Frank and chef Walter Whitewater of Red Mesa Cuisine. Folks will also have more opportunities to get crafty with two more natural dye workshops from Kalyn Finnell showing folks how to make the gorgeous carmine red dye with the prickly pear cochineal bug, and activities for kids from Explora. And in the afternoon coming to our prickly pear stage folks can enjoy the sounds of Youngsville, Anything That Moves, and other musical acts.

And inside the Hubbell House we’ll have a series of talks and workshops for farmers, ranchers, and gardeners on how and why to incorporate prickly pear and other native plants into their systems

Tickets are $20 for both days, $15 for the Saturday, and $10 for the Friday; with discounted tickets for students, children, and seniors and early bird tickets available before September 1st
