Jammologues

Jammologues stems from the collaborative nature of the theatrical and musical craft and the profound relationship between performers their instruments and repertoires. It is a space for interdisciplinary experimentation and creation based on improvisation and real-time, spontaneous interpretation, under the format of a traditional Jazz “jam session”.

Based on the jamming tradition of the 1940’s New York jazz clubs, Jammologues treats texts from an actor’s repertoire the same way a musician would treat a standard. In that sense, the text serves as a baseline score for both musical and theatrical collaborative interpretation.

It is a space to explore the text’s performative, rhythmic, melodic and harmonic dimensions, opening new possibilities for performance and expression.
