A cancer diagnosis can be one of the most frightening things that an individual can hear. Science and clinical experience have shown the importance of a whole person-centered approach in the care and treatment of this disease. While science has made great inroads in the therapy of cancer using surgery, and other anti-cancer therapies; healing from a mind-soul perspective is largely left unaddressed. Anti-cancer therapy plans usually do not address these powerful healing forces that are part of everyone’s being.

This spiritual and emotional approach has always been the preview of a soul centered approach to illness and its methods have been encoded in healing myths and other intuitive methods. State of the art cancer science has validated this healing capacity but medicine does not know how to activate it... but your soul does.

This talk will discuss the spiritual, mental, and emotional aspects of healing using the uniquely Western myth of the Wizard of Oz. Tools such as creative imagining, meditation, the use of psycho-spiritual counselors/therapists and the use of tarot for accession of the subconscious elements will be highlighted.

Dr Ellis is a board-certified medical oncologist, integrative medicine physician and lifestyle medicine expert. Incorporating osteopathic principles and practice, nutrition and mind-body approaches into the care and treatment of patients with cancer has been an active part of his practice. One component of his interest and practice has been in the utilization of tarot as a holistic healing tool. He is currently the CEO and founder of Integrative Cancer Care Services and serves as teaching faculty at several local medical schools.
