Description
Saturday, December 7, 5:30-7PM, $15
Join Maitri Brown and Susan Brochin for an evening of Yoga Nidra at New Renaissance, a transformative practice that guides participants into a deep, conscious state of relaxation. Often referred to as "Yoga Sleep," Yoga Nidra combines guided imagery, body scans, intention setting, breathwork, and visualization to bring the body and mind into a state of profound calm—similar to sleep, yet fully awake and aware.
In this session, participants will lie down, supported by props, to achieve a deeply nurturing and restorative experience. Unlike traditional yoga classes, Yoga Nidra involves no physical movement. Instead, participants follow the instructions as they are guided into a state of deep relaxation, which may help reduce stress and anxiety. Many people experience powerful insights and a stronger connection to their innermost self during this practice.
At the beginning of the session, an intention or Sankalpa is introduced—something you wish to create or manifest in your life, such as emotional healing, inner peace, or joy. This intention is revisited at the end of the practice, offering a meaningful conclusion and reinforcing the potential for personal transformation.
Whether you are new to yoga or an experienced practitioner, Yoga Nidra is accessible to all and can even be practiced seated if preferred. Maitri and Susan are thrilled to offer this deeply restorative experience at New Renaissance.
ABOUT MAITRI:
Maitri Brown’s journey began with Transcendental Meditation after reading Autobiography of a Yogi. In 1977, she joined a Pentecostal church, gaining foundational experience in energy healing, light language, and angelic connection. She later explored diverse spiritual practices like Reiki, Angelic Communication, and Native American rituals. In 2013, she began yoga and meditation at Ananda, later completing yoga teacher training.
Now, Maitri focuses on meditation, energy work, and helping others connect with their higher selves alongside her good friend and co-presenter, Susan Brochin.
ABOUT SUSAN:
Susan Brochin's spiritual journey began in a small women’s group focused on the Divine Feminine. She has since explored practices like Astrology, Tarot, Numerology, Yoga, and the Akashic Records. After retiring from her public-school teaching career in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2014, she immersed herself in her passions. Inspired by a Sounds True podcast, Susan studied the Akashic Records and developed a daily practice. Last year, she launched her "How to Read the Akashic Records" and "Meet the Goddess" classes, reflecting her dedication to helping others deepen their spiritual connection.
