Jaynie Farnsworth, Saturday, February 22, 3-6PM, $30
For expecting parents, new parents, postpartum caregivers (including grandparents), and birth workers.
The postpartum period can be overwhelming for women, who often serve as the emotional center of the home and, in some cases, the primary breadwinners. This pressure sends unconscious messages of "Get back at it; you can't afford to rest." However, we can’t afford not to rest. Evidence shows that intentional care and rituals honoring the significance of birth can reduce postpartum anxiety and depression.
Ayurveda offers a holistic approach to recovery, emphasizing nourishment for the body/mind and spirit. Key components include a diet of warm, easily digestible foods, prioritizing rest and warmth, and herbal remedies for hormonal balance. Practices like Abhyanga (self-oil massage), yoga, and meditation promote relaxation and stress relief.
Honoring the 40-day postpartum window allows for profound healing and transformation, setting a foundation for longevity. Participants will gain essential tools for a resilient postpartum recovery.
