Rani Kathleen McLaughlin, Friday, July 17, 6:30-8:30PM, $20

What is your path to God? In her memoir Rani Kathleen provides an intimate account of her search for direct experience of God through Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Sufism.

In the beginning of the “magical mystery spiritual journey” we interpret meditation and gurus in terms of whether it meets our expectations. Am I “getting what I want?” Our own conflicts distort the teachings. Psychological dialogue offers a pathway through these obstacles.

Discovering the limitations of theological concepts of God-He, she discovered an ancient Hindu text glorifying the Goddess Devi, recognizing God-She. Rani Kathleen brings these stories of Devi alive through drumming and story-telling. Buddhist meditation and Universal Sufi teachings bring us to the Oneness of Divine Presence. Many practical suggestions are offered here, discovering who God is and who you are, as you walk the path of mystical transformation. Find yourself, let go of yourself, on this radiant path.

Rani Kathleen McLaughlin, currently a psychotherapist in private practice in Portland, was an Associate Professor at Lewis and Clark College, holding degrees from Harvard Divinity School and the California Institute of Integral Studies. She trained in Eastern and Western spirituality: Advaita Vedanta, Vipassana, Jungian depth psychology, Freudian psychoanalysis, and Universal Sufism.
