You are cordially invited on board. Traversing Hollywood at twilight, you will weave through the accumulated debris of a hundred years of dreaming. This is A California Gothic, led by Oliver Misraje and produced by New Theater Hollywood.

In Los Angeles of the past 100 years, all the known images of the world have converged, mingled, and been repurposed into something we called the California Dream. But the dream factory’s doors are shuttered. As film studios abandon the city, neighborhoods are whipped off the map and real estate developers bulldoze what remains. The archetypes and folk heroes have flooded the Walk of Fame like displaced phantoms.

A tour. A performance. A lecture. But most of all, a love letter written to both the dream and the delirium that birthed it.

Southern California has entered into a gothic mode, and this is your passage.

Oliver Misraje is a writer from the Inland Empire of California. As the son of a preacher, Misraje’s work explores religious fundamentalism, and the human and environmental violence within the inland desert. Much of his fiction finds setting in places that embody the death of the California dream and particularly the communities left behind by prosperity.
