Overview

The Pelvis is the functional chassis of the musculoskeletal system, yet it remains one of the most misunderstood regions in clinical practice. This course provides the evidence, reasoning and technical skills to master it.

Join Chris Drakes for an intensive, high-level workshop designed to fundamentally transform your understanding of The Pelvis and how to treat it using Musculoskeletal (MSK) Manipulation.

Unlike standard, formulaic technique courses, Mastering MSK Manipulation bridges the gap between evolutionary biology, physiological mechanisms, and clinical intuition. Almost all movements of the MSK system transfer force through the pelvis and its function is critical for any regional MSK dysfunctions where gait or ground reaction force are affected.

You will move past simply performing an isolated SIJ technique  to understanding the mechanism of the pelvis and treating the structure holistically. The content is completely new, based on the forthcoming Mastering MSK Manipulation book series, with concepts not presented anywhere else.

To guarantee maximum hands-on coaching, direct supervision, and personalized feedback, this course is limited to 12 participants.

What You Will Learn

• The Evolution of The Pelvis - Understand compromises made through exaptation and the  biomechanical 'smoking gun' of pelvic mobility.
• The Mechanism of The Pelvis - Deconstruct intra-pelvic and extra-pelvic motion and their critical roles in gait and load transfer.
• Evidence to Clinical Reality - Deep-dive into Vleeming, Tullberg and Laslett in detail and evaluating the actual evidence for pelvic manipulation.
• Clinical Reasoning - Key history-taking indicators and physical examination findings that demand pelvic intervention.
• Treatment -  Learn a structured, repeatable treatment system for SIJ pain and pubic symphysis dysfunction.

At the end of the course you will have:

• A streamlined diagnostic and clinical reasoning framework.
• A logical, step-by-step treatment routine.
• A Chicago variation with high-reliability of cavitation.
• 'Get Out of Jail' techniques, including the Mackinnon, tailored for acute patients, those with joint replacements, and compromised lumbar spines.
