The New York Shuffleboard Association (NYSA) is partnering with the Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club to host an Open New York State Tournament featuring two new competitive formats:

  • The International Shuffleboard Association (ISA) No-Touch Zone Rule
  • NYSA's first-ever Double Elimination bracket

This tournament is open to everyone—you do not need to be an NYSA member or play in a Royal Palms league to participate.

Only current NYSA members are eligible to earn NYSA State Points.

Registration

  • $40 per Doubles Team
  • $20 per Free Agent

Tournament Capacity: 32 Teams

Don't have a partner? Register as a Free Agent and we'll pair you with another player before the tournament begins.

Tournament Format

  • Double Elimination bracket
  • 8-frame matches

Double Elimination

Unlike our traditional Main/Consolation bracket format, a single loss doesn't eliminate your chances of winning the tournament. Every team remains in championship contention until they've lost two matches.

ISA No-Touch Zone Rule

This tournament mark's NYSA's debut of the No-Touch Zone Rule, a new competitive format recently adopted by the ISA for all international tournaments.

Here's how it works:

  • If the first disc of a frame comes to rest between the lag line and the scoring triangle, it becomes protected.
  • Your opponent's first shot cannot make contact with that disc.
  • Once each team has thrown one disc, the protected disc may be played normally.
  • Discs in or touching the scoring triangle are never protected under this rule.
  • If a protected disc is hit (intentionally or accidentally), the shooting disc is removed and the protected disc is returned to its original position by the players at the opposite end of the court.

A rules briefing and demonstration will be provided before play begins, so no prior experience with the format is necessary.

Schedule

  • Doors Open / Check-In: 9:30 AM
  • Play Begins: 10:00 AM
  • Estimated Finish: Approximately 4:30 PM

Cash Prizes

  • 1st Place: $200
  • 2nd Place: $150
  • 3rd / 4th Place: $100
