This Machine Kills Wasps returns for its super intimate, super special festive show. As always, in the first half there will be comedy, before an interval, a jarring shift in tone, and some beautiful music in the second half.

THE COMEDIANS

Robin Ince

Robin is a legendary comic, festival circuit veteran, and all round decent chap.

Maya Ricote

Maya Ricote (a former Mexican telenovela actress turned professional idiot) has made a deal with a witch and now wants out of it, before it devours what’s left of her soul. She’s 94 years old, but looks 25. Howl.

“The funny bones are strong in that family” -Chortle

Next Level Sketch are a Hoopla-trained sketch collective. One of them dresses up as Sir Kier Starmer a lot, but not in a flattering way. Expect jokes.

THE MUSIC

Saoirse Juno

Saoirse is a singer-songwriter who lives in Brighton. She writes wistful, delicate songs infused with birdsong.

Jo Burke

Jo is a folk musician, arranger, and performer. She runs the Brighton Folk Choir. She has a beautiful new album of songs, and this gig is intended to encourage her to finish it.

The Highchurches

The Highchurches are This Machine Kills Wasps' house band. Expect fiddle, sarcastic asides, and songs about the end of the world and also awful exes with unlikely names.

Your host is the fragrant Leslie Bloom.

Lineup subject to change.

The Folklore Rooms is a lovely space above The Quadrant pub, just down the hill from Brighton station. It’s next to the clock tower, you can’t miss it.

We’re really sorry, but this venue isn’t an accessible one - it involves some pretty steep stairs.
