This foundational workshop provides you with the knowledge
and tools you need to design and launch a Kanban system for your service in your business environment. This 2-day workshop (14 hours total instruction time) serves as the first step in achieving full certification as a Kanban Management Professional (KMP) with Kanban University. NOTE: Workshop will be delivered live in-person at Improving's Calgary offices. Lunch break will be from 12:00-1:00 PM each day. Lunch will be provided.
WORKSHOP SUMMARY
Through visual presentations, hands-on activities, and real-world examples, you will develop a personal understanding of Kanban principles and practices and gain insights on how to apply Kanban to increase quality, speed workflow, and optimize the delivery of high-quality services and products.
This highly interactive, experiential workshop features GetKanban simulation, which delivers an applied understanding of Kanban to learners of all backgrounds and experience levels.

Meet Your Instructors - Dave White & Kert Peterson
Dave White

Dave White is an Accredited Kanban Consultant (AKC), Trainer (AKT), and in the first cohort of Kanban University Distinguished Fellows. Dave was the first Canadian AKT in 2012 and one of the first AKC (KCP) in Canada and globally. Dave was the director of the KCP Program from 2014 until 2020 when the program transformed into the modern-day AKC program. Dave specializes in helping organizations mature their software development and information technology practices on both the process side using Kanban, and on the technical side using ASP.NET Core, Kubernetes, Azure and a variety of other technologies. He is passionate about DevOps tooling, techniques, and mindsets and regularly talks and teaches on a wide range of Kanban, DevOps, and Software Development topics
Kert Peterson

Kert Peterson began his career as a Software Engineer in NASA's Space Shuttle program. His roots as a maker afford him practical insights into the daily challenges faced by testers, engineers, and creatives. Kert has been an Accredited Kanban Trainer since 2018. Kert has guided Agile Transformations for a wide range of companies, including Fidelity Investments, Mission Health, Duke Energy, Bank of America, Dell, and Capital One Financial. At Bank of America, Peterson launched and led four Kanban teams through a 6-month transition to a lean-agile delivery system for the bank’s 120-member customer profitability organization. Kert holds a B.S. in mathematics from the University of Texas at San Antonio and lives in Calgary, Canada with his family. He spends his spare time training Tai Chi and playing Mandolin.
