Public involvement is important, expected and possible in all types of health and social care research; and the 2025 national Patient and Public Involvement Event will present a powerful showcase of activity, initiatives and successes across Scotland

Ensuring patients, and the public play a part in the research that affects them is essential to accelerate research and improve access, inclusivity and diversity. These topics and many more will be explored, with opportunities to learn, network and collaborate.

Hosted by NHS Research Scotland, the conference takes place on 11 March 2025, at Stirling Court Hotel, part of the University of Stirling Campus.

The event will be shaped by the vibrant patient and public involvement community across Scotland, with opportunities now available for oral, speed, poster and workshop sessions

Oral, Speed and Poster Presentations

Abstracts are welcomed for poster display, speed presentation (5minutes) or oral presentation (10-15minutes). Authors can select their preferred presentation mode during the submission process. Authors who select oral presentation and are not selected during the evaluation will be automatically evaluated for a speed or poster presentation. There is no need to submit an abstract for each preference.

Workshops

Workshop proposals are welcomed which encourage more in-depth exploration of PPI topics. These should be more interactive sessions that promote knowledge transfer, skills development and collaborative learning among all participants and workshop facilitators. Workshops will last approximately one hour and delivered in collaboration with colleagues within your organisation or potentially across different organisations. We also strongly encourage the involvement of your public partners.

Register your interest

Due to demand in previous years, you can now register your interest to attend and be the first to be informed when full registration opens in early February 2025. Please not there will be no charge for the conference and funding will be available for public contributors to attend. The venue offers free parking for all delegates, and for those arriving by public transport,  a complementary shuttle will also be provided. Details will be shared when registration opens.
