Prostate Cancer – ‘Know your risk’ Online Session

Did you know one man dies every 45 minutes in the UK with prostate cancer?

Prostate cancer is the most common form of cancer in men, yet many men are either too embarrassed or just do not want to discuss it with their GP. However, it is crucial to be aware of the risks, potential symptoms and action to take.

Some facts:

• More than 230 men die every year from prostate cancer in Northern Ireland
• 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer sometime in their life
• 2 out of 3 adults don’t know where the prostate is
• You are two and half times more likely to get prostate cancer if your father or brother has been diagnosed

Prostate cancer is not always life-threatening. But when it is, the earlier you catch it the more likely it is to be cured.

Frank McNally, a Prostate Cancer UK Volunteer, has agreed to give a ‘virtual’ talk to help raise awareness about potential symptoms, risks, action to take and your rights.

The talk lasts for approximately 25-30 minutes. It will also provide details of the support available from Prostate Cancer UK, not just for men but for families who may need support as well.

The talk is open to everyone. Men are not the only one’s affected by prostate cancer – it has an impact on the partners, families and friends of those diagnosed or living with it!!
