''Such a brilliant couple of days! I learnt so much and it enjoyed it even more than I hoped! Highly recommended'' - Cheryl, April 2023
Hello, my name is Niki and I'm a Printmaker in Porthtowan, Cornwall.
I love linocutting and particularly the reduction method which is the result of layering colours one on top of the other, this results in a vibrant colourful print. We will also have a look at a two block print. This is a two day workshop as this is a relatively complicated process. Day one will be spent cutting lino and practising on a small piece. Once you understand the methods you will then design your final piece. Day two will be spent printing your design as a small limited edition.
This is an over 18s workshop. I keep the class size small so that everyone has plenty of support, attention and space.
This will be a relaxed session but packed full of information.
You will learn how to design a multi-layered print, transfer it to a block and use the correct tools to cut. Then how to mix ink, roll it and how to get the right consistency and layers for a clean print. You will learn how to register the block so that the layers are placed correctly.
Day one will be a little more formal than my usual workshops. I will teach you as a class to create a small reduction print and two block print; how the layers work on top of each other, how to register the print and how to clean between each layer. Day two will be your day to print your own design as a limited edition. I will be there to make you a cuppa and troubleshoot if necessary.
If you have any issues which you feel will need extra support on the day please let me know beforehand so that I can bring appropriate resources.
You will leave with your limited edition of prints and hopefully a smile on your face!

The first 15 minutes will be a chance to get a cuppa and say hello, browse the resources and get settled.
What to bring
My intention is for you to be a neat and tidy printer BUT it may be an idea to bring an apron or at least wear old clothes, just in case that ink ends up where it shouldn't! Feel free to bring books, tools and anything else that you may have already. All tools and resources are provided but I know some people like to try things out that they have had in the back of the cupboard for a while. Please also bring a bag to carry your work home, a plastic one if it's raining!

Bring a packed lunch or there's a cafe next door.
Payment
Please pay within 24hrs of booking

I will offer a full refund up to a month before the event. After that a full refund (minus ticket site fees) if I can fill the place.
