WINTER SCULPTURE PARK is now closed.

Following incidents of vandalism and arson, we have made the difficult decision to close this years exhibition early. The nature and scale of the recent incidents have made it unsafe for the show to continue, and we feel this is the right decision for the wellbeing of the artists, the public, and the land.

We would like to thank the artists - Elliot Macdonald, Maja Novak, Leah Hickey, Sophie Fishel, Poppy Whatmore, Stephanie Douet, Liam Scully, Marcus Orlandi, Peter Fish, Tom Hackett, Tom Witherick, LUAP, Helen K Grant, Eleanor McLean, Alexis Bamforth, Richard Mackness, Prayer Room, Claye Bowler, Joseph Ijoyemi, Lorrain Mailer, Jill Laudet, Rachel Irons, Tom Coates, Charlie Franklin, Chanel Vegas, Alegria Repila Smith, Diana Zrnic, Jeremy Wyatt, María C. Cepeda Gnecco, Verity Monroe, Mariusz Wolny, Chloë Louise Lawrence, Ellie Harrison, Communal Clay, Emma Louise Moore, Andy Ash, David Sappa, and Julian Woodcock - for their time, energy, dedication, and belief in public art.

We’re really grateful for what we’ve achieved together this year, welcoming over 3,000 visitors, and many more through chance discovery, to a site that had been closed to the public for more than a decade.

Reopening the former Thamesmead golf course, has been met with positivity, solidarity, and hope from so many of the visitors we’ve been fortunate enough to interact with on site each day. We’re especially grateful to the friends we’ve made within the Thamesmead community, who have supported this project from the beginning and showed care and encouragement throughout.

For those who had planned to visit, we apologise for the inconvenience caused by the early closure. Tickets are always free, but if you made a donation when booking and would like a refund, please let us know via TicketTailor, and we will process this as soon as possible.

Any funds raised through donations will help us cover the unexpected costs associated with the early closure, including additional resources for de-installation. If you would like to continue supporting WINTER SCULPTURE PARK, please consider purchasing a Supporter’s Pack.

WINTER SCULPTURE PARK will return.

Thank you,
Kieran & Meg

Getting here: You can find WINTER SCULPTURE PARK by mapping to Gallery No.32, SE28 8QH.

Alternatively use the what3words: ///Golf.Means.Hugs

The nearest station is Abbey Wood. From Abbey Wood station, take any of the below bus routes to Lister Walk (Stop NB). From there, it’s a 10-minute walk to the site.

Routes to the exhibition site from Abbey Wood station via bus include:

  • 472 or 229 from Abbey Wood Station towards North Greenwich, to Lister Walk.
  • 177 from Eynsham Drive (outside Sainsburys), to Lister Walk.
  • 401 from Yarnton Drive (road opposite Sainsburys), to Lister Walk.

Upon arriving at the former golf club house building at the junction of Fairway Drive & Lytham Close, walk towards the building and follow the green fence to the left, past Lytham Close Playground on your left until you reach a kissing gate.

Go through the gate and turn right onto the Thames Path. Follow the Thames Path for approximately 3 minutes with the River Thames on your left. When you reach another kissing gate, signed Ridgeway, pass through. The entrance to WINTER SCULPTURE PARK is on your right.

Alternatively, if you choose to walk from Abbey Wood station to the PARK, stick to the Ridgeway Path. This will take you from Southmere Lake to the entrance of WINTER SCULPTURE PARK.

Important information:

Children must be supervised at all times.

The site has been derelict for over a decade and remains uneven in places. We recommend wearing closed, comfortable shoes and sticking to the footpaths.

Please remember this is an exhibition. Each piece in this space is a carefully made artwork and while some invite you to play we ask that you interact gently and respectfully, keep an eye on children to help them engage safely and treat the artworks with care so everyone including future visitors can enjoy them too.

Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome. Please be sure to clear up after them.

The exhibition will be taking place outdoors, so wrap up warm. Should it rain, there is a canopy on the golf course building.

There are no toilets on site.

The nearest shops and cafes are a 15 minute walk away. You will find a bigger variation of amenities in Abbey Wood next to the station. If you’re looking to explore, or to have a meal elsewhere, we recommend heading across the golf course to Thamesmead Social inside the Lakeside Centre next to Southmere Lake.
