Did you know that every nonprofit and business in Washington is required to have a written Accident Prevention Program? Do you have a safety committee or regularly talk about safety at a staff/volunteer meeting? Do you provide training related to how to lift heavy tables or boxes? If you answered “no” to these questions—or are curious to learn more—join us as we give you the information and tools you need to be able to be compliant with Washington State safety and health law.
WSFMA has partnered with Washington Food Coalition and Department of Labor & Industries, Safety and Health Investment Program to provide members with free safety and health tools and learning resources. Called Nonprofit Safety Hero, the program is designed to teach you what you need to know to be compliant with Washington safety and health law and give you the support you need to follow the law within your busy organization.
In this interactive one hour session with Nonprofit Safety Hero educator Nancy Bacon, you will learn about the core safety and health requirements that every business and nonprofit must follow. You will spend time exploring the elements of an Accident Prevention Program (APP), the written document required by law. (And you’ll learn about a free tool to fast track your APP writing! You mean there's an APPapp? Yeah, there is.) You will have a chance to reflect on your safety culture with colleagues to determine at least one way that you can strengthen your practice to reduce injury. Our goal is to get you the information you need efficiently before the busy summer farming season begins.
