A Conversation with Ed Balls
The 27th Norfolk Cambridge Society Public Lecture will be quite different from our previous events. Rather than a lecture, it will take the form of an in-depth conversation between two widely respected and most interesting public figures. Both have razor sharp intellects and strong connections with Norfolk. The interviewee will be Ed Balls, celebrated British broadcaster, economist, former top politician, currently Research Fellow at Harvard University Kennedy School's Mossavar-Rahmani Center, Professor of Political Economy at King's College London and co-Chair of the Holocaust Memorial Foundation. His distinguished interviewer will be Philip Webster, former political editor of The Times, former EDP journalist and author of a fascinating book Inside Story: Politics, Intrigue and Treachery from Thatcher to Brexit.
Philip has long experience of interviewing top politicians and has assured us that the central objective of our lecture series, the celebration of the rigorous pursuit and dissemination of truth by leading academics and distinguished others in an age of widespread misinformation and disinformation, will be assiduously upheld and extremely pertinent to his questioning. Indeed he has promised us that, although he is an old friend of Ed's, he will not go easy on him if the situation warrants it. We also understand that, in spite of the fact that Ed is married to the Foreign Secretary, he will be more than happy to talk about current day politics and its machinations, at cabinet and backbench level.
This will therefore be a fascinating event and one not to miss!
