North Dorset Beekeepers is a group of people from all walks of life, fascinated by the amazing Honey Bee, the role it plays in the world around us, and the impact it has on human kind……and we love to talk about it!
Most of us keep bees and participate in the craft of beekeeping and our activities are focused on Shillingstone, near Blandford Forum, where we keep the Association's bee colonies and run our courses and other bee-related programmes.
If you’d like to know more about Honey Bees, we’re bound to have something to suit your needs - everything from a short afternoon's introduction to bees, through to a Beginner's Beekeeping Course that runs from April to August each year, and more advanced modules of specialist training. You'll find details on the website.
And, important though it is, it’s not all about the learning – social events are organised throughout the year and there’s a series of interesting winter lectures too.
Has a swarm arrived in your garden? Have Honey Bees moved in where you’d rather not have them? We can probably help with that too, so get in touch and we’ll do what we can.
We're a Registered Charity (Number 1193201), and fully affiliated to the Dorset County Beekeepers Association and the British Beekeepers Association.
OUR BIG IDEA
We plan to build a Honey Bee Centre in North Dorset. It’s an ambitious project to create a space where everyone, young and old, can explore the magic of the Honey Bee. There’s more information on the website, including how you can help us make the Big Idea a reality.
