If the most important event of your life has already happened, how do you continue to live?
South Shields, 2004. Craig, Joanne, and Gary are coming to the end of the summer holidays. Before heading off to new horizons, they meet on their beach one last time to make an investment for the future. Little do they know, their lives are about to be changed forever. Now, twenty years on, things aren't going as any of them had hoped; it's like they've been stuck on that same beach all this time. Can they ever moved past what happened to them, or will they be forever tied to this incident?
Age guidance: 12+
This informal rehearsed reading is a culmination of three years' work on the Life in a Northern Town programme; a creative writing opportunity for young people across the North of England, delivered by Northern Broadsides, The Grand Theatre Blackpool and The Customs House South Shields, supported by Didymus.
About the Playwright

Miles Kinsley is a writer and actor originally from Settle (North Yorkshire), now based in South Shields; he trained at the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama. His theatre-making practice largely focusses on adaptation, utilising an audience's connection to pre-existing texts, pieces of media, or even pop culture touchstones to invite discussion on wider political and social issues. Miles also believes in co-creation, shaping work through conversations, lived experiences, and workshops. His work has been showcased across the North, including at Alphabetti, Laurels, and Live Theatre, where he also completed their Playwriting course.
