Co-Design Day: Collective strategies for resilience in Northern horticulture

Kindling Farm is one of three Farm Learning Hubs launching across the North of England as part of the Northern Food and Farming collaboration!

Join us on the 22 January 2027, at Kindling Farm, to find out more and get involved.

This Farm Learning Hub will focus on collective strategies for resilience in Northern horticulture, delivering a three-year programme of training and exchange sessions. Whether it’s irrigation, financial resilience, on-farm safety, we want your input to co-design a programme that will meet the needs of Northern growers.

On 22 January, we’ll gather to co-design the three year programme of activities at Kindling Farm, share stories of resilience from past seasons, and collectively identify challenges experienced by Northern farmers/growers.

The morning will include welcome and introductions, news about Northern Food and Farming and a tour of Kindling Farm.

After lunch the co-design session will explore:

• What are the main factors challenging resilience in Northern horticulture on market gardens/small/medium scale farms?

• Which of these are unique to the North of England?

• Your stories of resilience

• Which areas should we prioritise for Kindling’s on-farm training/exchange programme?

The co-design event will be a chance to:

• see a 77 acre, community owned, organic horticultural farm with agroforestry and hear from the Kindling Team nearly three years after they bought the farm

• share your experiences and input to a programme of training and support for resilience in Northern horticulture (market gardens, small and medium sized farms)

• meet and connect with others in the Northern networks
