Description
Sunday
Lendis has been quietly emerging from the worlds of jazz, folk and
electronic music since she started her solo venture in 2021 alongside
esteemed producer and guitarist Ed Allen (Mabgate Organ Trio,
Mamilah). Telling tales of hope and adversity, Sundayโs glistening
voice weaves through lush guitars and iridescent pianos offering the
listener a generous sense of reflection and humanity.
Her debut EP Long Exposure is set to release this Spring, which includes a single release and vinyl pressing on Leeds independent label Come Play With Me in January. Already Sundayโs music has recieved praise from BBC Introducing West Yorkshire, Jazz Revelations, Balamii Radio and featuring in Atwood Magazine, Twisted Soul, Le Future Wave as well as Spotify editorial playlists such as Jazz UK, Serotonin & Somewhere Soul's New Music Friday Playlist alongside Raquel Martins & Quinn Oulton. The record is a poetic and bewitching affair, while her captivating and consuming live shows place Sunday Lendis as one to watch in the new era of UK jazz.
Noteable performances: Green Man, Shambala Festival, Liverpool International Jazz Festival, Manchester Jazz festival.
+Support from JANANI.FX
Janani.fx is the solo project of Eela Tamil creative Janani A (she/they). As a Tamil person with roots in Jaffna, born in Berlin and later living in London and Norwich, their sense of displacement forms anintegral part to the music she produces. Just like her boundless array of influences, (scores from classic Tamil films, Carnatic styles, Tamil folk, Krautrock, ambient, poly-rhythms, soundscapes, shoegaze, highlife, experimental, afrobeat and triphop) the holistic music of Janani.fx cannot be abruptly defined. Simply put, it is a way to connect to their ancestors.
