Leeds aggro-jazz four-piece Vipertime are back with their long anticipated second album Arise. Exploring the borders of modal jazz, post-punk, dub and afrobeat, the record displays a driving dance sound that is simultaneously unique to the band and a microcosm of the thriving UK scene.

Past releases have had plays on on BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 3, BBC Introducing and Worldwide FM. Notable shows include The Windmill in Brixton, Hyde Park Book Club, Brudenell Social Club, Smugglers Festival, Lancaster Jazz Festival, Cobalt Studios, Peggys Skylight and Matt & Phreds

Thunderous bass sets the tone, rattling from a dub sound system or distant car stereo. The doubledrums propel the groove, conjuring Leeds carnival, Brazil and Lagos before muscular, staccato sax-ophone goes for the throat.

Since its birth in the basements of Leeds house parties, Vipertime has played venues and festivalsacross the UK and received airplay on BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 3, BBC Introducing andWorldwide FM. Debut album Shakedown and 2021 singles Limbs and All Our Heroes Are Deadlaid out the band’s manifesto of heavy jazz, twisted post-punk and Ethipiques-inspired textures. OnBeatviper fingerprints of Mulatu Astatke are ever present, joined by EDM, dub and the the influenceof the band’s UK jazz peers such as Sons of Kemet, Nubya Garcia and Melt Yourself Down.

Muertito are a Leeds-based quintet who incorporate elements of flamenco, folk, classical
Indian and Afro-Latin grooves. Comprised of calabash, trumpet, vocals, classical guitar
and fretless bass the group create a rich sonic tapestry that crosses boundaries and
