Saving Monarchs - Family Event
Film Screening - Monarch Tagging - Family Art Event
Two sessions: Sunday, September 18, 1:00 - 2:30 pm and 2:30 - 4:00 pm
Join Film Access Northumberland (FAN) and NFOTA for a family event. FAN will screen Nick de Pencier's award winning NFB film Four Wings and a Prayer. And NFOTA welcomes 8-year-old Morgan Mansfield of Morgan's Monarchs, an advocate for growing monarch habitat, and her mother Gavy Swan, who are both Butterflyway Rangers with the David Suzuki Foundation’s Butterflyway Project. Find out how Morgan rescues caterpillars and releases the emerged monarch butterflies and how kids can make a difference. Artist and teacher Katie Hoogendam will offer a hands-on workshop for children, giving them the opportunity to make their own beautiful butterflies or paint a picture related to their migration. A fun afternoon for the whole family!
Notes:
- The hands-on workshop is limited to children 12 and under and will be held outdoors under a tent with a covering capacity of 15 people.
