BHARATANATYAM: VIJI MOORTHIE
Viji Moorthie is a teacher and performer of Bharatnatyam working in Norwich and surrounding areas since 2009. Bharatnatyam is a visually stunning dance form with a strong expressive narrative element. Viji’s performances focused around exploring Hindu mythology and philosophical ideas and their relevance to our present experiences.
KATHAK: RAGINI MADAN
Ragini Madan has trained in ‘Kathak’ under Padmashri Shovana Narayan for over 12 years. Her style of presentation consists of a harmonious blend of Lucknow and Jaipur gharanas. In London, she has also learnt intricate Kathak techniques from Mukti Shri. Kathak, deriving its name from the Sanskrit words ‘katha’ (story) and ‘kathakar’ (storyteller). Natural movements, vitality, complicated footwork, breathtaking pirouettes, abhinaya and heart-rending mime are the hallmarks of Kathak.
