"Nothing about communities without our communities"

Your Voice. Your Experience. Real Change.

Join us for the launch of our Patient and Carer Race Equality Framework (PCREF) Community Action Plan

Tuesday 29 September 2026 | 9.30am - 3.00pm
ICCA, The Atrium - 99 Hucknall Rd, Nottingham NG5 1QZ

We warmly invite people from our local communities, alongside patients, carers, families, community organisations and partners, to come together for an important day of conversation, connection and action.

We know that people from our communities do not always experience mental health services equally. Experiences of racism, discrimination, cultural misunderstanding and inequality can affect whether people feel heard, respected and able to access the care and support they need.

We want to change this - together.

The Patient and Carer Race Equality Framework (PCREF) is a national NHS approach designed to help improve the experiences of people from racialised and ethnically diverse communities when accessing mental health services.

At this event, Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust will launch its PCREF Community Action Plan and, importantly, invite communities to help shape what happens next.

Why come along?

This is an opportunity to:

  • Have your voice heard and share what matters to you, your family and your community.
  • Help shape better mental health services that understand and respond to different cultures, identities, and experiences.
  • Hear what Nottinghamshire Healthcare is committing to do to tackle racial inequality.
  • Meet patients, carers, community leaders, NHS colleagues and organisations working for change.
  • Help us turn our PCREF commitments into visible, meaningful action.
  • Hold us accountable for the progress we make.

Nothing about our communities without our communities

We believe lasting change can only happen when the people most affected by inequality are involved in designing the solutions.

Your lived experience, knowledge and ideas are valuable. Whether you have used our services yourself, supported a family member or friend, represent a community organisation, or simply care about improving racial equality in mental health services, we want you to be part of the conversation.

Together, we want to create services where everyone feels heard, respected, understood and treated fairly - regardless of their race, ethnicity, culture or background.

Come and be part of the change.

Your voice matters. Your experience matters. Together, we can make mental health services more equal for everyone.
