2026 is the year of the cabbage according to Vogue and Pinterest! So we're here to teach you how make more than coleslaw –

Join our hands-on Pickles & Preserves Party at Nourished Communities Islington (N1), hosted by The Barefoot Planter and Nature Zine

We'll kickstart the event with a Q&A hosted by Louisa Minter-Kemp, founder of Nature Zine alongside panellist and zine contributors Chauntelle Lewis (The Barefoot Planter) and George Fredenham (Flavour Fred). Discussing Issue 2's theme 'Urban Food, Foraging + Farming'. Followed by an immersive pickle making workshop led by Chauntelle using seasonal ingredients.

  • Location: Nourished Communities N1
  • Date & Duration: Sunday 8 March 2026 between 1pm to 3pm
  • Welcome non-alcoholic drinks
  • 45 min Q&A with Louisa, Chauntelle and George  
  • 1.5 hr pickle making workshop
  • Guest have the opportunity to buy Nature Zine 2  
  • Guests must be 18+ 

Meet your hosts + panellists:

  • Louisa Minter-Kemp - founder of Nature Zine, which passionately shares stories highlighting the intersection of urban life and nature, and author of Staying at Home, a book focused on slow travel in the UK.
  • Chauntelle Lewis - founder of The Barefoot Planter delivers sustainably-led gardening workshops, cooking classes and dining experiences for communities, businesses and institutions. Providing a journey from seed sowing to garden-to-fork and a celebration of farm-to-table.
  • George Fredenham - founder and professional forager of Flavour Fred. Former wild-food pub with 20 years experience in Wild Flavours in particular culinary uses, preservation, distilling and the history surrounding them.

Workshop Materials:

  • We will provide jars and seasonal ingredients but feel free to bring your own too (these will need to be sterilized).

Additional gift for purchasing: 

  • Nature Zine Issue 2 will be on sale during the event.
