Come along for a free hands-on day discovering how good food starts with healthy land. Discover the full journey from healthy soils to a healthy plate.

Experience traditional scything with Tom Waters, based in the far west and working with the National Trust Cornish Coastal Meadows project. Try your hand at this ancient and effective skill – you won’t look at your strimmer the same way again!

Join Ian from SoilRave.org to investigate fresh soil samples and discover what’s living beneath your feet.

Join a guided tour of the community market garden with Spence and discover regenerative growing practices that result in healthier, local and seasonal food.

Finally, enjoy a delicious lunch using some of our seasonal ingredients, cooked by Andrew of Riverside Café and Bistro for the full-circle experience from field to fork.

Please read, important event information

The venue is about a five-minute walk from Church Field Car Park in Camelford. If you are driving, please park there and walk down College Road (it is Pay & Display with first two hours free). We will have up to two spaces on site for disabled visitors – please let us know if you need a parking space on site and how we might be able to accommodate your needs.

Lunch is included. You must let us know of any dietary requirements and we will try to accommodate them. However we cannot guarantee that anything is allergen free as it's prepared in a commercial kitchen that uses multiple allergens. Equally, if you do not want to be fed but are attending, please let us know so we can plan numbers. Email hello@nourishkernow.org.uk

Because of the nature of scything, this event is not suitable for young children.

Please be aware that photography, audio or video recording may take place at our event. These may be used for promotional purposes including on our website and social media accounts. If you do not wish to have your photograph taken or to have images of you used, please make yourself known at the start of the event. We are unable to guarantee that you will not be included in the background of photographs that are being taken.

In the case of normal bad weather, the event will continue. Wear appropriate clothing and footwear. If there are weather warnings, we will contact you that morning.

Accessibility

The surface around the barns and toilets is compacted road planings. The barn has a loose hardcore surface. The event activities will be taking place on uneven flat and sloping fields with areas of very long grass. There are places to sit and rest. There is an accessible toilet available. Steps can be avoided. The market garden is on a south-facing hillside with uneven grass and some obstacles throughout. If you have any questions, please contact hello@nourishkernow.org.uk
