We will meet at 8:30am at the TXDOT rest stop northwest of Decatur on Highway 287. It is 3 miles past the intersection of Loop 380 and Highway 287. We will caravan from the rest stop NW on Highway 287 to Windmill Lake (unit #2) at the LBJ National Grasslands. Restrooms are available at the TXDOT rest area, but not on site at unit #2.
Here’s a small list of species we might expect to see: Maximilian Sunflower (Helianthus maximiliani), Gayfeather (Liatris mucronata), Small Palafoxia (Palafoxia callosa), Common Goldenrod (Solidago altissima), Old Field Goldenrod (Solidago nemoralis), Downy Ragged Goldenrod (Solidago petiolaris), Shiny Goldenrod (Solidago nitida), White Boneset (Eupatorium serotinum), False Gaura (Oenothera glaucifolia), Prairie Agalinis (Agalinis heterophylla), Indiangrass (Sorghastrum nutans), Switchgrass (Panicum virgatum), Big Bluestem (Andropogon gerardii), Little Bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium) and Canada Wildrye (Elymus canadensis)
