Spring 2025 Prairie Seekers - Urban Prairies Prescribed Burn Aftermath!

Last year, the Prairie Seekers visited two urban sites - Arcadia Trail Park in the spring and Tandy Hills Natural Area in the fall. Thanks to the hard work of City of Fort Worth Park staff and FWFD Wildland Fire Responders, plus the cooperation of the weather, both sites were burned after our visits! We'll meet at Arcadia Trail in the morning to walk the site, and examine the fire patterns and regrowth. We'll also discuss the role of fire in our historic landscapes and how this burn is likely to impact the ecological trajectory of the site.

Next, we'll caravan to Tandy Hills, stopping for lunch along the way. NPAT will pick up the tab! At Tandy Hills we'll follow the same pattern of study while comparing the two sites before adjourning for the day. Please join us!
