A strategic approach to centring lived experience

Thu 5 Feb 2026 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM GMT Online, Zoom

About this event

This Leading Impact seminar will help charities explore how to take a more strategic approach to centring lived experience across their work, linked to NPC's guidance on centring lived experience.

Putting lived experience at the heart of decision making can help charities be more relevant, credible, and better meet the needs of those they serve. Doing this requires a shift in decision-making power towards those who the sector seeks to help, and means a change in how charities operate.

Thanks to a movement led by inspiring leaders with lived experience and advocates over many years, this shift is now accelerating. But achieving structural change is difficult, and well-intentioned, one-off projects can risk reducing the impact of change, setting your organisation back further than where you started from.

We know that it can be hard to know where to start with a more strategic approach, including how to resource and fund this work, and how culture and processes should adapt to make this shift in a meaningful way.

Join us for this webinar, where we will:

  • Highlight the features of organisations effectively centring lived experience, and encourage participants to reflect on their own position against these
  • Outline the steps required for a more strategic approach to centring lived experience
  • Reflect on the challenges preventing organisations from adopting a more strategic approach, and share learning about how to overcome these challenges

This session is for those leading involvement in their organisation, whether you are a Trustee, CEO, or participation professional. There will be an opportunity to share your own experiences and ask questions of our team.
