Tue 17 Sep 2024 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM BST
Online, Zoom
Description
Often overlooked by the media, the experience of women as asylum seekers and refugees can be both frightening and inspiring. Gill will tell the stories of some of these women and what they have experienced to live in safety.
Gill is currently chair of trustees at Refugee Roots in Nottingham. It is a small charity which seeks to support refugees and asylum seekers in the local area. She also runs a Women’s Group for the charity and teaches English and provides craft/well-being activities.
Before Gill started with the charity, she was head of English in a Leicestershire secondary school.
