Intimate Partner Abuse for Under 16s

As part of the global 16 Days of Activism campaign, Oasis Domestic Abuse Service is hosting a series of webinars to raise awareness, share expertise and encourage action to end domestic abuse and gender-based violence.

This 16 Days of Activism webinar aims to raise domestic abuse awareness and help get people to safety as part of the Know, See, Speak Out campaign.

This webinar explores intimate partner violence (IPV) involving children and young people under 16, including the challenges practitioners face in recognising and responding to abuse within young relationships. Using learning from the Hollie Newton case, we will consider the current domestic abuse legislation and safeguarding landscape, the gaps and challenges in existing responses, and what this means for professionals supporting young people.

The session will also explore how domestic abuse services, education, safeguarding and other professionals can respond effectively, promote safety and provide appropriate support to young people experiencing or using harmful behaviours in intimate relationships.
