OASPA 2025: Embracing the Complexity - how do we get to 100% OA?

OASPA’s annual conference is the only event that brings together the whole of the open access community, accelerating connection, discovery and new thinking. Our 2025 conference will focus on the complexities we know we face in asking how we achieve a future with 100% open access.

Collectively we will consider the key questions that arise from pursuing this goal, for example, can pursuit of the goal itself distract us from quality, sustainability and inclusivity in scholarly communications? Should 100% even be the goal and what do we mean by it?

How do we address the crucial underlying issues to tackle in our research culture and with research integrity? Does a focus on transitioning from paywalled to open access content detract from the efforts of those already delivering 100% open access? And how is the wider geopolitical landscape impacting our ambitions?

Join us 22-24 September 2025 at the Irish College Leuven in Belgium to exchange thoughts with a global network of experts and peers, and to help us shape the future of open access.

Registration Rates

• Early bird rates are available until June 30. 

• Rates are calculated based on your organisation’s revenue and your OASPA membership or supporter status.

  • Small organisations are those with revenue under €5,000,000 and large organisations are those with annual revenue of €5,000,000 or over.

  • A concession rate is available to those in academic organisations, in organisations with five or fewer employees worldwide or who are unemployed or are resident of a country on the Wellcome Low and Middle Income Countries list.

Cancellation Policy

• Full refund up to June 30 2025
• 75% refund from June 20 until July 31 2025
• 50% refund July 31 - August 31 2025
• 0% refund from September 1 2025

(refunds are excluding booking fees and transaction charges)
