Climate Change brings many significant challenges across society and the economy. 

This networking event will bring together all major stakeholders in Tullamore to explore potential opportunities to further decarbonise Tullamore and the lead the way in sustainability and also realise potential business opportunities and opportunities to make our Tullamore community thrive. 

Tullamore, as Offaly’s designated Decarbonising Zone (DZ), will show real leadership in delivering climate, biodiversity and sustainability actions through innovation, technology, creativity, and empowering community engagement, thus demonstrating local place-based successes that can be scaled up and replicated across the county and region.

Within the DZ area, it is the purpose of local authorities to work collaboratively with stakeholders and communities, and help to promote exploration, co-creativity, innovation and new learnings in delivering climate action, as well as the economic and social benefits of decarbonising, such as just transition and health. In terms of mandatory sectoral emission reductions targets, there is no difference between the parts of the county inside or outside of DZ zones.

The purpose is to assist and enable communities and stakeholders to undertake a range of collaborative climate change mitigation, adaptation and biodiversity measures.
