Description
OVERVIEW
Join OFFBEAT on a magical European adventure filled with the perfect blend of stunning springtime landscapes steeped in history, old world charm, comfortable accommodations, and exquisite beauty throughout the country. This adventure mixes nature photography (including landscape, astro, and even potentially wildlife photography) with a street photography component as the 8 nights and 9 days brings us from the majestic northern mountainous Julian Alps to the ancient, narrow, cobblestone towns along the Adriatic coast. This workshop/tour has it all, including waterfalls, gorse, turquoise rivers, castles, alpine scenery, blossoms galore, some of the world's most impressive caves, hilltop and island churches, and so much more.
Location: Slovenia
Dates: April 17-25, 2025
Tour Leaders*: Dave Brosha and Kahli Hindmarsh
ITINERARY
April 17-19 (three nights), Lake Bled area. This workshop kicks off with us picking up up on the 17th at approximately 1PM either at the Ljubljana International Airport or a Ljubljana hotel if you have arrived days prior. From there we will relocate to the Famous Lake Bled area and spend 3 days photographing out of the area, which includes hilltop churches, northern mountainous area and Triglav National Park.
April 20-21 (two nights), Soca River Valley. Our group will relocate to the exquisite Soca River valley, which is ripe with waterfalls, famous turquoise river, massive caves, and castles.
April 22-23 (two nights), Piran. For the next two days, we will base ourselves out of historic Prian city. This is a Venice-like pedestrian city, and a perfect place for experiencing street photography, along with the coastal beauty of the Adriatic Sea.

WHAT TO EXPECT
The workshop is suitable for
participants of all levels of experience in photography. Participants should be prepared for hikes 3-5km over some hilly terrain.
This event
focuses primarily on landscape, street, and outdoor photography, but participants
are free to ask questions about and practice portrait photography as
well. It is worth noting that the workshop will be quite intense in
order to maximize field time. Participants are not expected to
participate in every aspect of the workshop/tour. It’s up to you to get
out as much as you like, though of course it is recommended you give it
your all.
LEAVE NO TRACE
We at OFFBEAT teach and live the ethics of "leave no trace" photography, which means that the utmost care is given, while hiking and photographing, to leaving zero impact on the natural environment. Participants are expected to approach this tour with the same ethics at all times.
WHAT TO BRING
•
suitable and comfortable clothing, which you can layer (we highly
recommend you have an outfit that is waterproof from head to toe)
• warmer jacket
• hiking boots (we will be in potentially wet and rocky areas)
• warm hat or toque
• a headlamp or flashlight
• gloves (try to find gloves that still allow you to operate your camera)
•
camera body and lenses. Our recommended lenses to bring would be one
wide angle lens, one mid-range, and one telephoto lens. Other lenses are useful, of
course, but those three lenses were our most frequented "go-to" lenses.
• a sturdy tripod
As well, we optionally recommend:
• water bottle
• a laptop for editing (with editing software, preferably Adobe)
