About InSideWays

InSideWays is an accessible sensory show delivered to your door. A colourful chest of drawers will open up a sensory SideWays world of playful sensory activities for each family to explore 🌈

Together, you’ll go on a wonderfully wiggly adventure of tasty sounds, toothbrush discos, and stories that won’t stay on the page. Where there’s no right or wrong way of doing things, just YOUR way. Sounds, music, smells, light, colour, textures and tastes will gradually transform your home, until it’s filled with sensory fun and magic! InSideWays reveals the extraordinary in the everyday 🪩🪥✨

Our At Home shows are especially created for and with disabled young people (0 - 25 years old) and their families who experience barriers to attending live performance. InSideWays has been made with the same budget and resource as a touring theatre show: the contents of each InSideWays experience are worth the equivalent of £1250. So, what you’ll receive is not a compromised version of 'real’ theatre - InSideWays is the real thing, in its best version. From us to you!

How InSideWays works: 

InSideWays is a show with no performers, just beautifully-crafted sensory objects and activities, a soundtrack and instructions so that your family can bring the magic to life together in the privacy of your own home. In this story, your family are the main characters! You go on the adventure and have your own magical journey through the SideWays world.

What is included?

To Book

InSideWays is £25 (including VAT). One £25 ticket covers your whole family. If price is a barrier for your family, please contact us: oilies@oilycart.org.uk

To book: please select a ticket for your area. 
You can check the estimated dates in the ticket description work for your family (we will confirm delivery and pick up dates with you).

InSideWays will be delivered to homes in:
West London, Suffolk, Dorset, Gwent and Glamorgan, Cheshire, East Yorkshire, Kent and Wandsworth.

Please note: 

• We hand-deliver InSideWays to each family we visit, which means we can only tour to a certain number of areas each tour. 
• We want every family to have the best and fullest experience of InSideWays. This isn't possible in a shared setting like a school or organisation, as every element has been carefully crafted for a home environment.

We will make sure to refund tickets for bookers outside of our current touring areas, or who are not booking the show for a family home.

What happens next? 

• We will confirm the dates and send a brief survey so we can personalise the experience for your family 
• A colourful chest of drawers containing the InSideWays show will be hand-delivered for you to experience in your home for 12 - 14 days
• Enjoy InSideWays in the comfort of your own home, at your own pace, and in your own way 
• InSideWays will be collected, and you will be left with lots of lovely memories!
  

InSideWays is a first-of-its-kind collaboration between award-winning pioneers of Sensory Theatre, Oily Cart (UK), Sweden’s trailblazing sensory producers Scen:se, and regional theatres Folkteatern Gävleborg and Estrad Norr.
