August First Responder Training Presented by OSU-CHS

We are excited to have you join us as Dr. Sara Coffey, D.O., presents "Lifestyle Medicine in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry" and Emily McPherson, MPA, presents "The Opioid Epidemic." The hope is by the end of the day you will have a better idea how to take care of and support yourself and your community.

The trainings will include two 1-hour lectures. Each lecture is worth 1 CLEET, EMS, PRSS, LPC, and/or LMFT continuing education credit. You have the opportunity to receive up to 2 credits if you attend all sessions. Certificates will be provided for those who need them within three business days after the training. You are free to attend as many or as few sessions as you would like. Attendance will be taken during each session so you will only receive credit for the sessions you attend. You only need to register ONCE even if you are planning to attend multiple sessions.

Lifestyle medicine in pediatric psychiatry is a cost-effective, evidence-based framework for improving childhood health and preventing chronic conditions. Integrating principles like sleep, nutrition, risk prevention, and more can foster lifelong health benefits. This course addresses six principles of lifestyle medicine for children and adolescents and how they can be applied in a practical setting.

11:00 AM: The Opioid Epidemic (Emily McPherson, Project Manager, OSU-CHS Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences)

The United States is currently in the throes of what experts are calling the "fourth wave" of the opioid epidemic. This course covers the history of opioid epidemics and the waves of the current epidemic, criteria and treatment options for opioid use disorder, and overdose prevention basics.
