Jump inside a human apple pie for a long autumnal weekend of picking, pressing, feasts and fires to celebrate the harvest.

Apple land is a participatory micro-festival in South Wales, focused on foraging, fermentation, natural crafts, and ecological activism.

3 days and nights on a regenerative farm amongst the Black Mountains, with stunning stone barns to play and party in, just 1 hour from Bristol.

Everyone is a contributor to Apple Land; it is what we make it. Get stuck in with cooking, creating, and most importantly guiding the humble apple on its eventful journey from orchard tree to cider barrel!

Ethos: Orchard Culture Revival & Land Activism

Apple land is as much a statement of revival and resistance, as it is a celebration of the fruits and labour of the harvest.
We believe that by coming together to pick, press and play we actively build upon a wider culture of community, land connection, purpose and place in the natural world. Our hope is that Apple Land is the seed, and that those who join us in the orchard feel inspired to take home the sprouting saplings of collective sovereignty! What part can we play in reviving the joy of the shared harvest in our local communities?

Participation:

You’re invited backstage! This removes the common hierarchical structure of festivals and gives everyone an opportunity to contribute in whatever way they’d like to. It also helps us keep costs down to a minimum so we can provide a rich experience that is as affordable as possible.

We ask each person to contribute 3-4 hours to the running of the festival, which can take a variety of forms. There are pressing shifts (of course!), cooking and cleaning shifts, bar shifts, and the chance to offer something to the event programme, whether a workshop, live performance or DJ set. It’s a great opportunity to trial a new idea, or share a passion project with a supportive audience. Have a think about how you want to contribute. When building the workshop programme we will prioritise proposals with a focus on foraging, fermentation, natural crafts, and ecological activism. After you've bought a ticket and as the festival approaches you'll receive a form via email asking about what you'd like to contribute - so PLEASE check your junk email in the week before the festival!!

Ticket Options:

Tickets operate on a sliding scale to accommodate varying levels of income.

Pay it Forward Ticket - This allows us to offer a Discount Ticket and provide a contingency, keeping the festival as inclusive and sustainable as possible. If you can afford it, please consider supporting us this way.

Real Price Ticket - This is our cost price ticket. This enables us to run the festival, cover food and venue hire, and pay the organising team a small contribution for their time.

Discount Ticket - If you genuinely can't afford our Real Price Ticket, this one's for you. It's really important to us that everyone who wants to be part of the weekend can be, but please consider buying the Real Price Ticket if you can.

Bunk House Add on - Refer to the sleeping options below. This add on gives you a bed in a shared dorm. £20 per night

Apple Picker Ticket - This year we will gather in orchards throughout October to scrump, providing the bulk of the apples for the festival and cider production. This will take place in two phases:

• 3rd-9th October (AKA on the Apple Train)

• 12th-21st October (AKA Apple Core)

PLEASE NOTE Children under 16 are welcome to attend free of charge, however there are no specific activities designed for children.

Sleeping options:

- CAMPING - (included in your festival ticket) - Freedom to roam in a beautiful field with hot showers and compost loos with a view. Please be aware this is October and it can get very cold and wet. Bring all the warm layers, waterproofs, wellies and lots of spare socks! There will be a fire in the main event area so you can toast yourself up before going to bed. Bring a hot water bottle too. Van or car sleepers are also welcome.

- INDOOR SHARED ROOM - (included in your festival ticket) - There are 2 large, open, heated rooms for us to share. You will need to bring your own sleeping mat, sleeping bag and ear plugs.

- BUNK HOUSE - (ticket add on of £20/night - total £60) - A triple bunk bed room with sleeping space for 10 people on single beds. Underfloor heating keeps it super cosy, with mattresses provided. Please bring your own sheets and pillow. Please note you will need to buy a festival ticket alongside this.

The Straw Bale Sports Day

Travel:

Three Pools Farm is a 10 minute drive away from Abergavenny train station, with trains running regularly from London and taxis available at the station. We help to organise a lift share as well, so once you buy your ticket you have the option to join the liftshare Whatsapp group so you can find a travel buddy.

Three Pools:

Three Pools is a farm and event space founded in 2017. It's aim is to scale up permaculture practices used in farming beyond what is currently done in the UK. It looks to research and demonstrate regenerative farming techniques, whilst producing nutritious, flavourful food and drink and hosting high quality events that bring people into the landscape.

The 141 acre farm is made up of a mixture of pasture, orchards, woodlands and a newly planted vineyard. Located in the foothills of the Black Mountains the farm provides a picturesque and secluded location.
