This training is named in memory of Oliver McGowan, a young man whose death highlighted the need for health and social care staff to better understand and support autistic individuals and those with a learning disability.

The Health and Care Act 2022 mandates that regulated service providers ensure their staff receive appropriate training in learning disability and autism. The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability & Autism is the Government’s preferred and recommended program for health and social care professionals.
