Omnira Institute's mission is to preserve and extend the threads of sacred knowledge, music and practices from West African traditions as they found expression in the Americas through descendants of African Holocaust known as the Atlantic Slave Trade.

Omnira Institute puts African American history into action.

It mounts its own events -- Juneteenth, the Black-Eyed Pea Festival and the African American Day of the Ancestors, while its performing arm, Awon Ohun Omnira, provides cultural expertise at these and other seminal events in the Bay Area Black community.
