Sun 26 May 2024 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
OmVed Gardens, N6 5JF
Description
Join ceramic artist Nadire Gökmen for a fun workshop to make a hand made terracotta plant pot with natural pressings. | ||||
The workshop will start with a walk around the gardens to gather natural elements. Then, under Nadire's guidance, participants will learn the intricate process of arranging, pressing, and rolling these organic materials into delicate slabs of clay to handbuild and imprint their pots with a unique botanical character. Following the workshop, the artist will fire the pots to ensure their durability and resistance. Participants will be notified via email when their creations are ready for collection at OmVed Gardens, typically within 2-4 weeks post-workshop. ![]() About the host: Nadire Gökmen is a London based artist currently working predominantly in ceramics. Her process led practice is motivated by the material traces that appear in our man-made environment. The urban landscape is simultaneously dotted with traces of our presence in, and separation from nature, from orange hues that envelop steel exteriors to the rusted silhouettes of absent objects. With a desire to capture these traces rather than mimic their appearance Nadire uses experimental process that allow the effects of weathering to mark and surface clay.
