Discover the ancient art of fermentation and the incredible flavors and health benefits that come with it. Whether you're new to fermenting or just looking to expand your skills, this hands-on workshop is for you!
The session begins with an engaging talk on the origins, flavors, and health benefits of fermented foods, including their role in gut health and overall well-being. Participants will then dive into a hands-on experience, using carefully selected ingredients to create their own lacto-fermented jar to take home, along with a helpful handout.
Throughout the workshop, you'll have the chance to taste a variety of ferments, gaining inspiration for incorporating them into everyday meals. Open to all, no prior experience needed, just a willingness to learn and a love for good food!
What to Expect
In this beginner-friendly session, you’ll dive deep into the world of lacto-fermentation, learning techniques like dry salting, brining, and pickling using seasonal ingredients from our garden. Taste a variety of delicious ferments, and get an exclusive peek at OmVed’s fermentation library.
What You’ll Learn
You’ll learn the history of fermented foods, their health benefits, and how to easily incorporate them into your daily meals. You’ll also make your own seasonal ferment to take home and enjoy.
What’s Included
A guided fermentation demonstration, tasting session, and a personal jar of your very own ferment to take home. Plus, a handy recipe handout to keep the fermentation fun going.
Who Can Take Part?
Anyone with a curiosity about food, fermentation, and healthy living! No prior experience required.
Session Requirements
Bring an apron if possible
Wear closed shoes and practical clothing (long hair should be tied back)
Bring a medium glass jar to make your ferment
We are a vegetarian kitchen and will do our best to accommodate dietary needs, however we do not operate a strictly gluten free or nut free kitchen. (please inform us in advance).

Josephine Marchandise
Head of the OmVed Regenerative and Creative Kitchen, she co-runs the space with Georgia Dowling. Josephine works both at the garden and the kitchen to nurture food from soil to plate and gut with a focus on wild, fermented, creative and zero waste cuisine. Jo is a member of the UK Fermenters Guild, organises a yearly fermentation festival and regularly teaches hands-on workshops at Omved Gardens in London and in France. @jomarchinfood
