Question: Where are the Women?

Answer: Precisely 2 in Edinburgh!

This event is Chaired by Frank Ross, The Rt. Hon. Lord Provost of Edinburgh who began this campaign in 2017, with Mercat Tours International and the Edinburgh Evening News.  There are only two statues of women in Edinburgh and we are determined to raise funds and commission a statue to commemorate the life and work of Dr Elsie Inglis (1864 -1917).  

Enjoy an afternoon tea (with the option to have a glass of fizz) in the historical City Chambers, located in the heart of Edinburgh's historic Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site and listen to two amazing authors:

• Sara Sheridan - writer and activist, she will talk about her aptly named book, 'Where are the Women? and give a fascinating account of her guide to an imagined Scotland, where women are appropriately commemorated in statues, on streets and buildings, even in the hills and valleys.

• Kate Murray-Brown - editor and author of The Upstairs Room who will unravel tales of the family life of Dr Elsie Inglis, her great, great aunt!
