An Afternoon with Prof Linda Bauld OBE and Kate Murray-Browne

Sun 13 Mar 2022 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM GMT City Chambers, High Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1YJ

Working in public health during a pandemic - why women like me follow in the footsteps of Dr Elsie Inglis.

Don’t miss out on this very special afternoon chaired by Dr Nathalie Rochefort a Sir Henry Dale Fellow, Chancellor’s Fellow at the Centre for Discovery Brain Sciences at Edinburgh University who shall Chair and introduce the audience to our two guest speakers Prof Linda Bauld And Kate Murray Browne.

  • Professor Linda Bauld OBE - Chief Social Policy Advisor to the Scottish Government; is a familiar face during government briefings over the last 2 years and is the first woman to hold the Bruce and John Usher Chair, the oldest academic chair in public health in the UK.
  • Kate Murray Brown - her debut novel The Upstairs Room was a Book of the Year in the Times and the Spectator.  Kate will be sharing her stories of the family life of Dr Elsie Inglis, her great aunt!

Prof Linda Bauld says "Scotland’s history is filled with pioneering women but far too few of them have been recognised. I’m supporting this campaign because Dr Inglis and her tireless work as a doctor and suffragist is an inspiration to me and so many others. Elsie forged a path and we follow in her footsteps."

Ticket Price - £20.00  Refreshments included (Booking fee applies)

All funds raised are towards the Elsie Inglis Statue Fundraising Campaign, headed by Frank Ross, The Rt. Hon. Lord Provost of Edinburgh and the OneCity Trust, including a group of dedicated volunteers and fundraisers.  Further details can be found at https://www.elsieinglis.org/
