Join One Institute and Eric Marcus, founder and host of the award-winning Making Gay History podcast, for Voices in the Shadows, an introduction to the podcast’s current 12-episode series on the experiences of LGBTQ people during the rise of the Nazi regime, World War II, and the Holocaust.

Drawing on extensive research conducted for this first-of-its-kind audio documentary, Eric will share clips from archival interviews that bring this painful, often hidden history to life through the voices of the people who lived it.

Voices in the Shadows will take place on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 from 7-9 p.m. at Beth Chayim Chadashim. Following the presentation, there will be an opportunity for attendees to participate in a Q&A with Eric.

Journalist and author Eric Marcus is the founder and host of the award-winning “Making Gay History” podcast, which mines his decades-old audio archive of rare interviews to bring LGBTQ history to life through the voices of the people who lived it. He is also co-producer of “Those Who Were There,” a podcast drawn from Yale University’s Fortunoff Video Archive for Holocaust Testimonies. He is the author and co-author of a dozen books, including the #1 NY Times bestselling autobiography of Olympic Diving Champion Greg Louganis, and was a founding board member of the American LGBTQ+ Museum.
