Wild Wonderful Sporadic Kin: Opening Reception

Wonderful Wild Sporadic Kin presents an unruly tapestry of trans liberation taking root across Southern California by and for communities of color. 

Join us for the opening reception for food, drinks, and brief remarks from the curator and participating artists. 

Renouncing traditional configurations of LGBT+ visibility—tactics that disproportionately protect white cis- men—the exhibition chronicles an unapologetic trans material culture, as well as the communal practices trans artists use to collect, document and preserve kinship within the archival record.

The exhibition celebrates the kaleidoscopic sensibilities of six trans and gender non-conforming artists who use their work to forge deeper relationships with human and non-human collaborators alike.

Organized to accentuate the dueling qualities of deposition, Wonderful Wild Sporadic Kin amplifies the first person testimonies of our Trans and gender non-conforming neighbors.
