Foundation Script Calligraphy with Adele Dark

Using a square edged nib and ink, explore the beautiful and timeless ‘Foundation Hand’ lettering, created by Edward Johnston, ‘godfather’ of Western Calligraphy and designer of the London Underground typography. You'll learn how to use a traditional square edged nib and by the end of the session students should be able to write their name or short quote in their new skill. All materials, hand-outs and equipment will be provided. Additional equipment will be available for purchase after the session.

Adele Dark is a local Calligraphy Artist, founder of Calligraphy in the Cotswolds (www.adeledark.squarespace.com) and accredited CLAS Teacher. All levels of students are welcome.

Is there an age limit for the workshop?
Anyone can attend our workshops, though unfortunately we do not allow children under 12. Those under 16 we do request are accompanied by an adult. Please do get in touch if you'd like to discuss.

What should I bring?
You don't need anything - we'll provide everything you need for this workshop.

What are my transport/parking options getting to you?
We recommend one of the Park and Ride options to spend the day in Bath (Lansdown, Newbridge or Odd Down). Alternatively there is parking in Bath in several locations - the nearest to Walcot Methodist Chapel would be the Podium car park or the Cattlemarket car park. Please ensure you can attend the workshop before booking, as tickets for the On Paper Festival are non-refundable and non-transferable. If you are ill, shipwrecked, or unable to attend for any other reason, we are unable to swap your date, though you are more than welcome to find a friend that can take your place.
